Referees/Judges Course

All qualified or non-qualified Referee/Judge that wishes to be considered to officiate at this event must attend this course.

 There will in-depth study and revision of rules to ensure consistency and knowledge transfer. All qualified or non-qualified Referee/Judge must have passed an exam in the past two years to be eligible to officiate at this year’s British Open.

The new exam, developed to incorporate Adult, Veterans, Cadets and Junior Kyokushin rules in one exam, will be available to attend at this course.

NEW INSTRUCTORS ANNOUNCED FOR BKK SUMMER CAMP 2019

All Kyokushin karateka are invited to join us for the annual British Karate Kyokushinkai (BKK) Summer Camp, featuring new instructors and activities for 2019.

Camp begins on Thursday 15th August and ends Sunday morning 18th August, with up to four sessions a day. Full board accommodation (breakfast, lunch & evening meal) is included.

Students who attend the BKK Summer Camp will train with other World-Class instructors in all aspects of Kyokushin Karate - focus on Kumite training (Fighting), whilst still maintaining excellent Kihon (Basics), Kata, Self Defence and Fitness sessions.

This year's adult instructor list includes Shihan Terry Prescott (6th Dan), Shihan Chris Seal (5th Dan), and GB Knockdown Coach Sensei Kenny Jarvis (3rd Dan). Shihan Liam Keaveney (7th Dan), Shihan David Pickthall (7th Dan) and Hanshi Steve Arneil (10th Dan) will also be instructing at the camp.

Adults & Children Welcome!
The BKK Senior Camp is for ages 16+. The BKK Junior Karate Camp for ages 8 upwards runs at the same venue with dedicated children's instructors at the same time as the senior camp. This year's Junior camp instructors are GB and Wales Junior & Cadet Coach Sensei Chris Davies (4th Dan), England Junior & Cadet Coach Sensei Wai Cheung (4th dan) & Shihan Janine Davies (6th Dan - IFK World Kata Coach).

Grade At Camp
Participants of the British Karate Kyokushinkai Summer Camp have the opportunity to attempt a black belt dan grade under Hanshi Steve Arneil (10th Dan) and Shihan Liam Keaveney (7th Dan). The grading is usually held on the Thursday of Summer Camp and lasts most of the day.

The venue for this year's camp is Felsted School, Essex, CM6 3JL England. Located just 10 miles (16km) from Stansted Airport, Felsted is within easy reach of many European flights.

This is the second of two courses are in preparation for the Welsh Open Tournament 11th May 2019 and the British Open – Cup of Europe at K2, Crawley, Saturday 5th October 2019. 

Any qualified or non-qualified Referee/ Judge wishing to be considered to officiate at either event must attend these courses.

Course Two (14th April ‘19):  practical application of refereeing, followed by an examination for all participants, whether qualified or non-qualified referee/ judge. A new examination has been developed to incorporate Adult, Veterans, Cadets and Junior Kyokushin rules.

LOCATION: Talberd Room, Foakes Hall, 47 Stortford Rd, Great Dunmow, Essex CM6 1DG

Course One (30th March ‘19): will involve in-depth analysis of rules to ensure referees and judges are able to sit and pass the examination.

AGM/ Grading Instructors' and BKK Instructors' Course

The BKK’s AGM will be held on 6th April at 14.30 – the Minutes of last years AGM, the Agenda and Accounts will be uploaded to the BKK web site.

Nominations for Officers and EC memers etc. should be forwarded to the BKK Chairman in accordance with the BKK Constitution (i.e. 21 days prior to the AGM).

Please note the Grading Instructors Course and BKK Instructors Course will commence at 11.00 and the AGM will begin at 14.30.

This is open to those who wish to be considered for selection for the forthcoming World Kata Championships as well as those who wish to improve their kata generally.

KATA JUDGES COURSE

At the same time and in the same location, Shihan Janine Davies will be holding a Kata Judges course. Those attending the Judges course will be required to wear gi and bring a copy of the current version of the BKK Kata rules, a pen and whistle.

Those wishing to take the Judges examination, there will be an additional fee of £5.

The BKK National Clicker tournament will be held on Saturday 24th November 2018. This is a point scoring competition with non-contact clicker for under 16's (download rules + 2018 rules addendum) and semi-contact Advanced Clicker for Seniors ages 16+ (download rules).

There are team and individual categories with an additional category for veterans ages 45+.

This course is in preparation for the British Open – Cup of Europe at K2, Crawley.

Any qualified or non-qualified Referee/Judge wishing to be considered to officiate at the British Open must attend this course as it is the only one before the tournament.

Shihan Andrew Turner (BKK Chief Knockdown Referee) will also be looking at Qualified Referees to attend the KWU European / Junior World Tournament in December in Bulgaria.

A new exam has been developed to incorporate Adult, Veteran, Cadet and Junior Kyokushin rules in a single exam.

Annual Waterfall Training

This is an open invitation to the annual waterfall training on Sunday 7th January 2018 at Sgwd yr Eira waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons of Wales.

This event takes place annually on the 1st Sunday of the New Year. This is a fantastic opportunity to train together with your Kyokushin family, to experience the spiritual mokso (focus" & "clear one's mind) at the side of the waterfall. Throwing punches under the  flowing waterfall is such an amazing sensation!

 A great positive way to start the New Year getting you in the right mindset to meet any challenges the New Year has to throw your way and most importantly start you Kyokushin training off the way you mean to carry on.

Where?

Meet at 10.45am on the 7th of January 2018 at The Lamb Hotel, Chapel Road Aberdare CF44 9JX.

We will have some photos taken before starting the run at 11.00am.Due the nature of this event  only 16 years and above are allowed to take part.
